Privacy policy

This policy explains what A Little Drive LLC, a California limited liability company ("A Little Drive", "we"), collects when you use Comlink, including comlinkhq.com, coml.ink, Comlink links on other domains, and the Comlink admin panel; what we do with it; and your choices. Comlink accounts are for people and businesses in the United States.
When you follow a Comlink link
We record that the link was followed: when, which store you were sent to, your country (worked out from your connection, not stored as an address), the site you came from (only its domain), whether you came from an app such as Instagram or a QR code, and, on publishers' sites, which article you were reading. We use this to count clicks for the person who made the link and to send you to the right store.
We don't store your IP address or your browser's full identity with these records, and we don't set cookies of our own. Link previews and bots are marked so they aren't counted as people.
When you continue to a store such as Amazon, Best Buy or Walmart, you're on that store's site, under its privacy policy. The link carries the affiliate tracking ID of the person who shared it, so the store can credit them.
When you send us something
- Early access requests and publisher applications: your name, email, site and the answers you give, so we can reply.
- Reporting a link: the link, the reason, any details, and your email if you choose to give it.
- Telling a link's owner a product is gone: which link and store. To count each person once a day we keep a scrambled value made from your connection's address, the link and the date, from which your address can't be read back.
If you have a Comlink account
We keep your email, name and role, your settings (including affiliate tracking IDs and link formats), your links, when you last signed in, and when you agreed to the terms (and which version). Sign-in is handled by Cloudflare Access, which emails you a one-time code or uses your Cloudflare account, and sets a sign-in cookie. We send you a welcome email and, unless you turn it off, a daily summary when your links need a look. If you connect Slack, notes about your links go to the channel you choose.
The admin panel remembers a few of your choices, such as your last property, in your browser's own storage, not on our servers. The publisher script keeps the short links for a page in your readers' browser storage for that visit.
Publisher reports
If we send you a private link report, we record when it's opened, roughly how long it's read, which sections are seen and which buttons are used, so we know whether it was useful.
Who else handles it
Comlink runs on Cloudflare, which hosts it, signs people in, sends our email and may set security cookies to protect against bots. The Comlink site, admin panel and publisher reports load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when they load; links and choice pages don't. Slack receives notes only if an account connects it. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
When we might share it
We may share information when the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect the safety, rights or property of people or of Comlink. If Comlink or A Little Drive is sold or merged, or their assets are transferred, your information may go with Comlink to whoever takes it over, still under this policy.
Where it's kept
A Little Drive is based in the United States. Comlink's database is with Cloudflare in western North America. Cloudflare's network handles each visit at a data centre near the visitor, which may be outside the United States.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect what we hold: connections are encrypted, the admin panel and our tools require sign-in, and we keep as little as we can. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise it can never be reached by someone it shouldn't be. If you think something's wrong, email us.
Please don't send us sensitive information, such as government ID numbers, financial account details, or health information. Comlink doesn't ask for it.
How long we keep it
We keep link and click records while the account that owns the links exists, and the addresses of retired links permanently so they're never reused. We keep requests and reports until we've handled them and as long as they're needed after that. Ask us and we'll delete what we hold about you, except what we must keep to protect Comlink's links or to follow the law.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, and ask us not to sell or share it (we don't). Because we don't track you across other sites or share information for advertising, browser signals such as Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control have nothing to switch off here. California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act; we extend them to everyone. We won't treat you differently for asking. Email legal+comlink@alittledrive.com.
Children
Comlink isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update it here and email account holders.
